Proposal for Conjoint PhD in Theological Studies Proceeding Through Approval Process

An important step was taken in August towards a new conjoint PhD program in Theological Studies, when it received the approval of the Toronto School of Theology Board of Trustees. This followed a successful external review by two senior faculty members at peer institutions (Dr. Francis X. Clooney, Director of the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University, and Gilles Routhier, dean of the Faculté de Théologie et des Sciences religieuses, Université Laval).

The proposal is now pending in the governance of the University of Toronto. If it is approved there, it will then go to the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance for consideration.

Meanwhile, the proposal has been approved by the Regis College Academic Council and is going forward to the Regis College Board of Governors.

TST and Regis College are also developing a proposal for a conjoint MA in Theological Studies.
