Regis College Hosts Open House on Saturday March 5th

Regis College invites you to our Open House, to be held on Saturday March 5, 2011 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Now that we have settled in our new home, we are looking forward to sharing the many fine pieces of art that grace our college. We have prepared a guide that will help our visitors discover works by Harris, Shadbolt, Sadowski, Dymianiw, and de la Giroday. Our guests will be able to marvel at Versteeg stain glass windows and several volumes of a rare Heritage Edition of the St. John’s Bible. Art created by professors and students will also be on display. What better way to introduce theology than to enjoy beauty created in praise, reverence and service of God?

The program of our Open House continues the format of free mini-lectures by Regis professors and displays by our graduates about local and international ministries. The lectures and displays demonstrate how the Regis community combines spirituality, academic learning, and action for justice. There will be orientation sessions for our diverse programs with a special emphasis on helping those unfamiliar with theology to discover this fascinating field. A panel of current students will reflect about their experience of theological education and a light lunch will be served. The day should prove very interes¬ting to current students as well as those who wish to learn more about the College’s programs, faculty and community life.

This year four faculty will speak on a range of topics that address our theme Open Doors, Hearts, Minds: Meg Lavin, "What is the Meaning of Life?" Scott Lewis, S.J., "The Bible and Violence," Gilles Mongeau, S.J., "Aquinas on the Wisdom of the Incarnation," and Gordon Rixon, S.J., "Illuminating Word: Rediscoverying Sacred Scripture." These lectures reflect the very best of our teaching and research.
