To assist students seeking ordination to the priesthood in acquiring practical competence in celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a workshop focusing on case-study and role-playing will be offered during the second year of the Master of Divinity program. It will be followed by an oral examination devoted to practical cases in the sacramental ministry of reconciliation. A letter assessing pastoral competence is given to students upon successful completion of the workshop and examination. To be eligible for this workshop the student must have completed one course in canon law and courses in moral theology covering the foundations of Christian ethics, sexual ethics, medical ethics and questions of justice.
Eligible lay students may also be admitted to this examination. Further information may be requested from the Registrar's Office. The Workshop and examination do not count toward the Master of Divinity degree.
Regis College students who are candidates for ordination should consult with their Director of Formation regarding specific or additional requirements which need to be completed in their ministerial training program.
