Regis College Library Locker Policies, September 2005

Lockers are primarily for the use of students registered at Regis College; this includes auditors for Regis College courses. After September 30, any remaining lockers will be rented to other users.

All matters pertaining to lockers are only handled Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by regular Library staff. Student assistants do not have privileges to assign lockers in the evenings nor on Saturdays. Prior arrangements must be made with the Head Librarian or the Reference Librarian to conduct locker business outside of the stated hours above.

Rental Duration

Regis College registered students, Regis College auditors, and Regis College employees rentals are valid for one year from the date of rental. Fees are not prorated for periods less than one year.

Rental Fees

The rental cost is $10.00 annually. A one-time key deposit of $5.00 is charged the first time a user rents a particular locker. If the locker location is changed, the key deposit is transferred to the new locker record. The key deposit is refunded upon return of the key. All locker fees are payable by cash or cheque made out to Regis College Library. Interac and credit card facilities are not available.

Contents & Security

Renters are responsible for the security of any items in their locker. The locks are not tamper-proof and the locker areas are not monitored by Library staff. Regis College and Regis College Library accept no responsibility for items left in the lockers. Food and beverages are not permitted in lockers overnight. All Regis College Library materials must be signed out before being placed in a locker. Access to the lockers is only during Library open hours which are posted at the Library entrance and available online.

Expiration of Rental

The Library will send reminder letters about locker renewal at least one month before the rental expiry. Since the locker may contain confidential or sensitive material, the key must be returned and the locker must be emptied by the renter if the rental is not being renewed. The renter may give written permission to a third party to clear out the locker and remove the key. Written and signed (not e-mail) authorization must be sent to the Head Librarian in this case. If the renter does not advise the Library of his/her intentions by the date stated in the reminder letter, the renter will forfeit the key deposit. The contents of the locker will be cleared out by library staff and appropriately disposed of. The lock will be changed.
