Surprised by Grace: A Prayerful Reflection on Kieslowski’s Decalogue Eight

Friday, 15 April 2011, 7:30 pm

Krzysztof Kieslowski’s short film Decalogue Eight is an incisive narrative of grace at work in the archetypal human experience of sin, forgiveness and reconciliation. At the beginning of Holy Week, Lloyd Baugh will propose a reflection on the dynamic of christian redemption in the difficult and painful encounter between the protagonists of this brief but complex film. He will invite those present to let the experience of these two women evoke a heartfelt understanding of how the grace-full presence of God in their own lives can break through the deepest pain and brokenness and bring about profound personal and social integration. The evening will include the screening of the fifty-five minute film, preceded by a brief introduction and followed by a sharing/discussion.
